Become an Urban Psychoanalyst during Operation Divan XXL! La Fabrique - Rêves de Ville and the Agence Nationale de Psychanalyse Urbaine (ANPU) are recruiting volunteers to become budding psychoanalysts during Opération Divan XXL on 4 and 5 July 2026, as part of the Plein Champ festival.

WHAT IS A BUDDING PSYCHOANALYST?

The budding psychoanalyst will join the Agence team and meet festival-goers, inviting them to take a moment out of time, lying back in a deckchair. The budding psychoanalyst will interview local people using a Chinese and poetic questionnaire, and take notes of their answers on the couch.

A fresco will be created live by psycho-aquarellist Clémence Jost, offering an artistic rendering of the words collected.
Opération divan XXL at Plein Champ is a preamble to the exhibition on urban psychoanalysis that will be presented in autumn 2026 at La Fabrique - Rêves de Ville. Volunteers and members of the public will be able to contribute to the exhibition and discover the ANPU's work based on the interviews from 29 August, when the exhibition opens.
WHO CAN DO IT AND HOW DO YOU BECOME A BUDDING PSYCHOANALYST?

All you have to do is sign up for a 4-hour slot (on 4 July, 5 July or both), and on the big day we'll give you a meeting point at the festival, Parc du Gué de Maulny. You'll receive an hour's training before putting on your smocks and going out to meet festival-goers for 2 hours, before finishing with an hour's collective debriefing on the results of our operation. We'll be sure to provide drinks and snacks to keep you going!

It's open to everyone aged 16 and over, and there are no pre-requisites other than a good mood!

Friday 4 July, 2pm to 6pm or 4pm to 8pm
Saturday 5 July from 2pm to 6pm or from 4pm to 8pm
WHY DO IT?

To take a different approach to your local area by seeing it as a person.
To understand the various representations that a place generates in its inhabitants. To better define the personality of a place through the words of its inhabitants. To take part in the Operations Divan collective fresco.
To join a motivated and dynamic team, who will brave all climatic and emotional conditions to bring as far as possible a total vision of the area. To be part of a much bigger project than the urban psychoanalysis of Le Mans: to psychoanalyse the whole world.
