CYCLE RENCONTRES CINÉMA ET SANTÉ

Organised by Atmosphères 53, the Rencontres Cinéma et Santé is a must-attend event in Mayenne exploring health issues in cinema.

Atmosphères 53 is offering 10 screenings across 9 cinemas in the Mayenne department. As we do every year, we will be exploring themes close to the steering committee’s heart, because we believe it is essential to discuss them together, because we are committed to contemporary health issues, and because cinema is a wonderful and popular medium for engaging with audiences. As usual, all screenings will feature guests from the worlds of cinema and healthcare, who will share their expertise with us and engage in discussion with the audience.

We are introducing something new for 2026 by screening films (Soyons fous, Eredità, Au bord du monde) in partnership with the Mental Health Awareness Weeks organised by the Collectif Santé Mentale 53. As part of this, we will be screening the short film *13 millions* as a pre-show feature at some of these screenings.

This new edition will, of course, feature a wealth of films exploring the following themes: mental health, psychiatry, nursing training, autism and Diogenes syndrome.

A team of people vulnerable due to mental health issues embarks on a wild adventure: the making of an adventure film.

Guests: Agnès Bruckert, the film’s editor, and members of the Institute for Nursing Training (IFSI)
In hospital, healthcare staff reflect on their practice during simulation workshops with actors. Whether it’s breaking the news of a cancer diagnosis or supporting loved ones, empathy with patients is something that needs to be practised. But is the ideal of patient care advocated in training actually applicable in a hospital system that is increasingly stretched to the limit?
