Current director of the Avignon Festival, Tiago Rodrigues invites us to rediscover his very first play, Chœur des amants, written and premiered in Lisbon in 2007. An ode to love, performed by two exceptional actors.
Two voices intertwine on stage: two lovers, two versions of the same story. In unison, or almost in unison, they unravel the thread of their relationship, their words brushing against each other, responding to each other, sometimes merging into a delicate song. The couple gradually takes shape, revealing their desires, torments, fleeting joys and little worries. Tiago Rodrigues is an acclaimed playwright and director with his own signature style: powerful, poetic language, fine, accurate direction and a pared-down set. Here, every word resonates, every silence counts, to celebrate the complexity of feelings and the beauty of the moment shared in a loving relationship.
