VIVA! / La Loquace Cie

Object theatre / 1h15 / age 12 and up

For its first production, Loquace Cie takes on a feminicide committed at the height of the Franco dictatorship, told with strength and distance through object theatre. A powerful show that questions our collective responsibility in the face of individual acts.
Quite simply, this is the true story of Pepe and Maria. On stage, a desk covered in objects: notepaper, stapler, chalk, tape, pencils and sharpeners. Surrounding them are Daniel, a Spanish lawyer, and Lisa, a French actress - a modern-day couple. Together, they take it in turns to reconstruct the tragic destiny of their grandparents. With intelligence and finesse, the two artists deliver a poignant tale in which the great story intersects with a more intimate one. By evoking the Spanish Civil War and family upheavals, VIVA! questions a society's ability to repair and transform itself.
