Gaslight

As part of Le Mans Sonore

The project is based on Hélène Frappat's book "Le gaslighting - ou l'art de faire taire les femmes". In it, the author explains that "putting a door over a woman's mouth is a crucial project of patriarchal culture". As a resonance, this piece will explore the perception of the female voice. In this solo, actress and dancer Hélène Rocheteau weaves together a vocal and gestural score based on sound archives and numerous interviews conducted over the course of 2025. Voice and body are subject to metamorphosis, playing with notions of invisibility, appearance and disappearance.
