Painting the light, stained glass in Sarthe, 19th-21st centuries

The exhibition looks at the key stages in stained glass in the Sarthe region, from the rediscovery of this art form in Le Mans in the 19th century to the most contemporary creations.
Through the prism of glass, you can discover a dotted history of Le Mans and its region. The various master glassmakers, artists and personalities who have left their mark on the glass decoration of churches and civil architecture in the Sarthe region are described, as are the secrets of stained-glass manufacture and the recipes for glass painting used in various 19th-century workshops in Le Mans.
