The recently deceased composer of so-called "minimalist" music Tom Johnson collaborated with Ensemble Offrandes on several occasions, notably during the premiere of his Seven Septets in 2016 (commissioned by Ensemble Offrandes). NINE BELLS, a hypnotic ritual of a journey between nine spatialised bells, proposed for the BIENNALE in a version for three performers, is in this respect a reunion with and tribute to the great 'minimal-radical' composer that Tom Johnson was.
