In 1979, Sony launched the TPS-L2 Walkman, the first stereophonic walkman that became world-famous for revolutionising the way people listened to music in the 20th century. To mark the occasion, in June that year the company organised an original launch in Tokyo's Yoyogi Park: an open-air demonstration featuring interaction between invited journalists and performers, all equipped with a Walkman.
With Please Listen to This, artist Lauren Tortil takes her inspiration from this commercial launch to bring you a sound performance in the public space: an immersive experience based on instructions and the collective attention of the audience. You become the performer yourself, using your smartphone and headphones.

Please note: this is an outdoor interactive sound performance, requiring an Internet connection. All participants must have their own charged smartphone and compatible headphones.
