Come and try your hand at boule de fort at the Cercle des Peupliers in Morannes!

To mark European Heritage Days, step inside the Cercle des Peupliers in Morannes and discover one of Anjou’s living heritage treasures: boule de fort!

A cousin of pétanque, yet quite different, this traditional game, which originated in Anjou in the 19th century, is played indoors on a long, curved track. The balls, fitted with iron rings and slightly unbalanced by their ‘fort’, follow a surprising trajectory and require skill, precision and finesse.

At the Cercle des Peupliers, you can visit the boule de fort club, discover the secrets of this iconic game and even have a go yourself. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy a friendly get-together and discover a tradition that is part of Anjou’s identity.

And as tradition dictates, before stepping onto the court, you’ll need to slip on the famous slippers!
So come along to discover, watch and try your luck on the court: boule de fort is waiting just for you!
