Fête des Mères - Adèle Royné - le Cargo
A play by Adèle Royné, performed on Friday 9 April 2026 at 8.30 pm at Le Cargo in Segré.
Somewhere between the comedies of Jaoui and Bacri, *Fête des mères* is a tragicomedy that pays tribute to siblings – to people who talk
without listening to one another and who understand each other without speaking.
Louise, a former maths student, is trying her hand at stand-up comedy. She talks about her love life, her family, and in particular her mother. Following a scathing sketch, mother and daughter have not spoken to one another for nearly three years.
Despite their falling-out and a lack of inspiration, Louise decides to return to her mother’s house for Mother’s Day. She sees this long weekend as an opportunity to gather material for her next show. It will also be a chance to catch up with her brothers Gabriel and Ziggy, and to meet their partners, Arthur and Florence.
Gabriel, the eldest, always in control, is particularly stressed this year; for the first time, he is introducing his boyfriend,
Arthur, to his family. Ziggy, the youngest, has been living with his mother on a temporary basis for nearly five years. He is accompanied by the eccentric Florence, who has a serious penchant for drink and is also a very good friend of his mother’s.
As everyone gets to know one another, his mother’s absence first surprises and then worries them.
Suitable for all ages from 12 years old
