Salon de Musique : Arabesques Persanes

With Hassan TABAR and Pierre RIGOPOULOUS

Hassan TABAR is renowned as one of the finest contemporary santur players. The santur is a plucked-string zither, one of the ancestors of the piano.

Born in Ghazvin, Iran, in 1961, he devoted his teenage years to learning the vocal repertoire of classical music. He then went on to study the santur in Tehran under Mas’oud SHENASSÂ. Having lived in France since 1986, he teaches the instrument and gives concerts all over the world, accompanied by the CHEMIRANI family, amongst others. His discography has been recognised with awards from Télérama and Le Monde de la Musique.

Hassan TABAR will be accompanied by Pierre RIGOPOULOS on the tombak (Persian drum).

Fun fact… Hassan helped restore the santurs in the City of Le Mans’ collection!
