Nuit du Cinéma et Interludes Hypnotiques

Featuring Sébastien BOULAY and Lahsan AMRANI

Sitting on deckchairs, take in the ‘Musical Cultures’ footage filmed during La Nuit du Cinéma.

This visual and auditory journey, shown on the big screen, will begin in Mauritania with the anthropologist Sébastien BOULAY in attendance. He will present a preview of his film about the young musician Mahfough ETHMANE, a player of the ‘TIDINIT’, a sub-Saharan lute.

You will then discover a musical road movie filmed by the CPFI – Musiques du Monde at the foot of the city walls of Le Mans, with the collaboration of local musicians from Le Mans. The evening will conclude with a screening of archive footage from the CPFI recorded during the ‘Les Orientales’ festival.

The programme for this cinema night will be hosted by the Gnawa musicians from Le Mans (Lahsan Amrani and El Mehdi Debbagh) over a cup of mint tea.
