Having always been drawn to drawing, Marie-Claire Ricaux has made dry pastels her technique of choice. Her work focuses mainly on portraiture, which she is particularly fond of because of the emotion conveyed by a glance, a smile or an expression. Her works, often inspired by encounters and cultures from around the world, reveal great sensitivity.

During this demonstration, you will follow the creation of a portrait, from the first sketch to the final touches of light. The artist will explain the different stages of her work, her choice of colours, how she renders skin tones, and how she brings out emotion using pastel pigments.
