Le modèle cosmologique standard entre succès et tensions
The Standard Cosmological Model: Between Success and Tensions
Jean-Philippe Uzan
CNRS/Paris Institute of Astrophysics
Thanks to general relativity (1915) and the advent of
observations of extragalactic objects (1924), cosmology has been able to
paint a new picture of the universe. Despite a century of success, this
masterful edifice is now being shaken by tensions, flaws
and explanatory limitations that could lead to a major transformation of the
standard model. This lecture will look back over this century of astrophysics by
recapping the assumptions and key stages in the development of our
cosmological model. It will emphasise the difference between ‘precision’
cosmology and ‘accuracy’ cosmology, and will speculate on some
possible developments and transformations.
