Les Cinéastes cinema is delighted to welcome director Alexander Murphy (Beyond Kathmandu) for the screening of his second film, *Irish Travellers*, which was presented at this year’s Critics’ Week in Cannes.
In *Irish Travellers*, Alexander Murphy, a Franco-Irish filmmaker, continues his exploration of themes of transmission and heritage. It is a compelling documentary immersion into the life of a Traveller family, a nomadic community that faces discrimination from Irish society. The director paints a vivid, tender and respectful portrait of this family, drawing on strong direction and very gentle cinematography.
His sensitive perspective offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of vulnerable communities facing extreme living conditions. Full of tenderness and with a keen eye for cinematography, his films seek to preserve the memory of endangered cultures within marginalised groups.
