European Heritage Days in Cornillé-les-Caves: discover Saint-Malo Church

In the heart of Cornillé-les-Caves, the Church of Saint-Malo has watched over the village for over a century. Behind its Angevin Neo-Gothic façade, however, it harbours a much older history. Built in 1890 to plans by the architect Beignet, it replaced an earlier 12th-century sanctuary that had become too fragile to withstand the passage of time. As you step through its doors, your gaze is drawn to the elegance of its architecture, the light streaming through the stained-glass windows and the peaceful atmosphere that invites you to slow down.

This visit is also a wonderful opportunity to explore the narrow streets of Cornillé-les-Caves, a village shaped by tuffeau stone, where every stone bears witness to a living heritage. The European Heritage Days offer the chance to discover Saint-Malo Church as part of a wider itinerary, punctuated by encounters, sites open for a special occasion, and stories passionately shared by those who keep the region’s history alive.

Practical information: Free access to Saint-Malo Church on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Free entry.
