[Conference]
Bells are part of our urban soundscape, but how much do we really know about their history and sound? This talk invites you to discover the technical, cultural and sonic heritage of the bells of Le Mans through the eyes of Quentin Boisnay, campanographer, and Frédéric Ablitzer, teacher-researcher in acoustics. Together, they will discuss the history, manufacture, tuning and musical qualities of the bells, revealing the links between the know-how of the founders and the science of sound.
