Ben Shemie - 360° Deuxième Ellipse

The Gyrophone, by Cie Atelier de papier, is a mechanical sound spatialization device that broadcasts 360°. Comprising 12 loudspeakers fixed to a rotating axis, the Gyrophone is designed as a musical instrument in its own right. Immersed in the sound, the audience hears a composition playing behind them at varying speeds.

For this installation, Canadian musician Ben Shemie, charismatic leader of the art-rock band Suuns and an inquisitive composer constantly seeking innovative conceptual experiments, came up with a project based on natural aquatic phenomena.
