Japanese eco-film since Fukushima. 15 years on
On 11 March 2011, a 15-metre-high wave hit the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The result was classified as being on a par with Chernobyl.
15 years on, the consequences of the disaster are still visible both in the landscape and for the Japanese population. Changes have been seen in the cinema, and that's what Élise Domenach invites us to discover!
The speaker: Élise Domenach is a professor of film studies at the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière.
She is the author of Le paradigme Fukushima au cinéma. Ce que voir veut dire (2011-2013), published by Mimesis in 2022.
Date: Wednesday 8 April 2026, 6-8pm
Venue: Room 201 at the Maison de l'Université
Additional information: The seminar is also available in video (Zoom), link available on the Maison des Langues social networks.
Public: Free and open to all
