Construction d'abri pour Chauve-Souris
Crafts. Nature workshop: make your own bat box with Philippe! Help these invaluable allies of the night by creating a wooden shelter for them. On the programme: a craft activity suitable for all, lots of laughter and fascinating tips for your garden. All materials provided
Often overlooked, yet essential to our ecosystem, bats are invaluable allies for our gardens. Did you know that a single bat can catch up to 3,000 insects (including mosquitoes!) in a single night? Unfortunately, they are sorely lacking in natural cavities to roost in. Why not offer them a safe haven to spend their days?
We invite you to take part in our bat box-building workshop – a hands-on, useful and fascinating activity to enjoy on your own, with friends or with family.
On the programme for this session:
• Step-by-step construction: Guided by the kindness and good humour of Philippe, our facilitator, you’ll assemble your own wooden bat box. No need to be a DIY expert: Frédéric will be on hand to show you the right techniques and help you use the tools safely.
• The secrets of these nocturnal creatures: Beyond the screws and the hammer, Philippe will share his fascinating knowledge with you. You’ll discover why the inside walls need to remain rough (so they can cling to them upside down!), at what height to install the shelter to keep predators at bay, and how these little mammals protect your vegetable patch.
• The joy of taking your creation home: At the end of the workshop, you’ll proudly take your birdhouse home, ready to be hung on your façade or a large tree to welcome your new nocturnal flatmates.
A wonderful opportunity to unwind, get stuck in with your hands and make a tangible contribution to local biodiversity!
