Atmosphères 53 is offering a selection of short films made in the region or by local directors, to highlight the creativity and vitality of local audiovisual production. During the screening, you'll also have the chance to meet one of the directors in the selection and talk to them about their work.

Walking along the Sarthe, Thomas met three craftsmen. Together, they wrote a poem.

✸ DES CONSTRUCTIONS by Anthony Rousseau - 2024 / France / 15 min / Fiction
In northern France, a man receives a strange telephone message, announcing the death of an unknown father. On the way to his home town of Mayenne, where the funeral will be held, he takes a few moments to recall images from his childhood and adolescence. On the train, he looks out of the window at a succession of landscapes that remind him of the distance between his present life and that of his past. Each detail of this long symbolic journey reveals memories within him, sublimated or repressed, fantasised or real.

Located in the heart of the city of Laval, La Coudre Abbey is a magnificent and singular place in the urban landscape. Cistercian nuns have lived there for centuries according to the rule of Saint-Benoît. They pray, work and maintain the site with self-sacrifice and fervour. They reveal to us the rituals and obligations that punctuate their days, while sharing their conception of Faith, Work and Existence, in a life entirely dedicated to a loving dialogue with God.
