Exposition Jules Poulain (Petite rétrospective 1933-2023)
Jules Poulain Exhibition: A retrospective of an artist from Durtal
Discover the career and creative world of Jules Poulain (1933–2023), an iconic artist born in Durtal.
Organised by the Artsécoles association, this event highlights the sensibility of a versatile artist who began his career as a bricklayer and stonemason before becoming a lecturer at the Angers School of Fine Arts for nearly thirty years.
This retrospective reveals the diversity of his artistic explorations, inspired by materials, people and nature. Through his sculptures in marble, limestone, wood and metal, his modelling works, his designs for the tapestries woven by his wife Suzanne, and his paintings from his later years, the exhibition traces a life entirely devoted to creativity. It is also an opportunity to celebrate his local legacy, as he designed, amongst other things, the medals for the City of Angers (1969) and the Pays de la Loire Region (1979), and whose monumental works adorn venues in Angers such as the Congress Centre and the Town Hall.
Don’t miss this cultural event to celebrate a great talent from our region and enjoy a convivial moment amongst his works!
