Génération Mitterand - Cie des Animaux en Paradis

Following *The Life and Death of J. Chirac, King of the French*, the Animaux en Paradis theatre company continues its theatrical series *Eight Kings (Our Presidents)* with a new instalment devoted to Mitterrand, set against a backdrop of hopes and disappointments.

Marie-France is a journalist in Paris, Luc teaches in Vénissieux, and Michel is a factory worker in Belfort. In 1981, all three were 30 years old and supported Mitterrand. Forty years later, their life paths and convictions have driven them far apart: in 2022, they vote for Emmanuel Macron, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Marine Le Pen respectively. How did they end up here? Against a minimalist backdrop, three actors take turns portraying the Socialist president and these intertwined destinies. At once tender, funny and incisive, *Génération Mitterrand* explores the divisions within French society and the disillusionment of an entire generation.
