The art of mixing is like the art of orchestration. In the case of studio creation, the challenge of mixing is to balance and calibrate voices, sounds, sound masses and colours. It's a matter of considering sound matter as a raw material that needs to be sculpted to give it its rightful place in a creation. So it's a matter of prioritising the sounds to articulate the sound language in the service of the aesthetics and narrative of your piece.

We will become familiar with a number of tools, including automation, filters (EQ), denoiser, de-esser, stereo effects (panning), reverb, delay, compression, limiting, etc.

How do you clean up a sound? How do you give it a place, a shape, a density, a thickness? How can you assemble different textures to avoid cacophony?
