Notre Dame des Eaux Chapel in Cheffes: a tour and photography exhibition to mark European Heritage Days

What if a simple chapel could tell you stories spanning several centuries… and share a few black-and-white memories?

On the banks of the Sarthe, the Notre Dame des Eaux chapel reveals its understated charm to those who take the time to stop and look. Behind its neo-Gothic walls, every detail invites you to look up: a window dating back to the 15th century, a painted wooden roof structure, a Pietà, a Virgin and Child… Once a renowned place of pilgrimage for the miracles attributed to it, it continues to this day to preserve a living memory.

To mark European Heritage Days in Cheffes, the visit is extended with an exhibition dedicated to analogue photography. Vintage cameras, street photography, stages of film development and period photographs of the village offer a poignant insight into the evolution of Cheffes and its inhabitants. A wonderful opportunity to rediscover the area through the eyes of those who shaped it, exploring heritage, craftsmanship and shared memories.

Practical information: Free entry to the Notre Dame des Eaux chapel, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm. Free of charge.
