Journées Européennes du Patrimoine - Château de Huillé

In the heart of the village of Huillé, the castle stands overlooking the Loir valley, offering a breathtaking view. The main residence, which was remodelled in the 18th century, has just undergone the first of three restoration phases over the past two years; the adjoining residential wing and the 15th-century stair tower linking the complex will follow. The timber framework, dating from between 1391 and 1394, the restoration of which was completed in the summer of 2024, is undoubtedly one of the property’s treasures. Next September, visitors will be able to admire the faithfully restored door and window frames, appreciate the scale of the masonry work, and see the fine slate roofing laid in 2025. By then, the terrace, framed by a balustrade, will probably still be under construction.
