Discover the Mine Bleue during the European Heritage Days on 20 and 21 September 2025.

A site unique in Europe, the Mine Bleue offers you an extraordinary adventure 126 metres underground! Right at the heart of the former mining site, the guided tour through the tunnels and extraction chambers takes you on a real journey back in time. Step by step, you’ll discover the origins of slate,
the techniques used to mine it and, more broadly, the lives of the men who extracted and hauled up the blue stone in the early 20th century. Back on the surface, as the tour continues, you’ll learn about the main stages in crafting a slate using traditional methods: ‘débiter’, ‘querner’, ‘fendre’ and ‘rondir’ are just some of the terms you’ll become familiar with, accompanied by demonstrations.

Guided tours depart at 10.00, 11.30, 13.00, 14.30, 16.00 and 16.45

Limited capacity – Booking essential – Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour
