With over 1,000 years of history, the town of Segré has witnessed the battles of the Hundred Years’ War, the Wars of Religion and the Chouannerie. But it was particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries that Segré experienced a remarkable boom thanks to its industries, railway station, river trade and sub-prefecture. Discover, through its urban heritage, the history of this small medieval town that became the capital of Haut-Anjou.
