[Peinture] Thibault Laget-Ro

"Au fil des branches" 2025 - © Thibault Laget-Ro

Solo exhibition

At first glance, Thibault Laget-Ro's pastel colours and flat brushstrokes seem perfect for conveying the carefree nature and wonderful happiness of our consumer society. This smooth appearance masks - to reveal it in a different way - a harsher side of reality.

Thibault Laget-Ro's palette and style are reminiscent of pop art and narrative figuration. But above all, his choice stems from a reflection on colour and an intention for a graphic, synthetic way of rendering figures, away from both realism and symbolism.

In figurative painting," argues the painter, "we tend to match a colour to a feeling to validate an intention, even to increase contrasts to influence the eye, as is done in marketing. For my part, I use colours that don't correspond to the subject's expectations.
