[PHOTOGRAPHIE] Stéphane Lavoué "Mes apparitions"

For the art centre, Stéphane Lavoué is presenting a series of photographs taken in the unusual village of Pontmain, following an immersion in the year 2026.

Following several residencies in the Monts d’Arrée, at the Comédie-Française and with the French Navy, Stéphane Lavoué is settling down in the village of Pontmain and will be getting to know its residents between May and July 2026. From the basilica to the waste-to-energy plant, via LADAPT, he casts a sensitive eye over the village and forges links between these different entities.

At each encounter, he listens, speaks little, and observes his subjects before taking the time to photograph them
in all their uniqueness. Through mystical apparitions, powerful portraits and nods to art history, he offers us a tangible narrative whose storyline is constructed by the viewer. Playing with chiaroscuro, impromptu compositions and scenes captured on the spot, he manages to blur our points of reference and shift the time and action of his photographs. Are we in Pontmain, or have we just appeared in some other place, somewhere between hell and heaven?
