PIANOÏD [XP]³ Édouard Ferlet

With Pianoïd [XP]³, composer Édouard Ferlet brings to life sounds never before heard, materials impossible for the human hand to play. The piano is revealed in a whole new light: a transformed instrument, diverted from its usual role and transformed into a generator of unsuspected resonances.

The music is born of a tonal and melodic idiom, punctuated by pulsations that come exclusively from the piano. It unfolds in a moving space, carried by the interactive and spatial electronics.

The project is the subject of a residency based on the development of Artificial Intelligence by Cyran Aouameur (Sony CSL), which will enable a real dialogue between the human hand and the machine. Broadcasting will take place in the sound dome equipped with 26 loudspeakers, the spatialization of which has been prepared with sound artist Manuel Poletti, offering the public a unique listening experience at the heart of the forthcoming Le Mans Sonore Biennial.

It's an experience in which the instrument undergoes a metamorphosis, and the audience witnesses the encounter between Édouard Ferlet's performative and musical universe and the living electronic exploration that envelops it.
