Portes ouvertes à la miellerie de « L’Abeille Cool »

L'abeille cool - ©L'abeille cool

3rd annual open day at the ‘L’Abeille Cool’ honey farm in Château-Gontier!

The ‘L’Abeille Cool’ honey shop in Château-Gontier reopens to the public on the first two weekends and the first Wednesday in October.

Nicolas Gabillon is based in Azé on the road to Laval, near the level crossing at the Pont Perdreau roundabout. This year, heatwaves and drought have deprived the bees of sunflowers and buckwheat, but they have been able to gather a good amount of nectar from lime trees, brambles and, above all, chestnut trees, which are plentiful in the Mayenne countryside.

On the programme:
Using models and an educational beehive, Nicolas explains how bees transform nectar. He then leads a tour of the honey extraction and bottling workshop. Finally, the tour concludes with a tasting of Château-Gontier honeys, with a view of the main apiary.

A free outing for the whole family (advance booking required).
