MZE SHINA means ‘inner sun’ in Georgian. Founded by Denise and Craig Schaffer, this ensemble has been dedicated to the repertoire of Georgian polyphonic songs for over 20 years.

Songs of ploughing, harvesting, weddings and healing, as well as sacred songs – the Georgian song repertoire was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2001. It resonates with that collective memory which has its roots in the very origins of all tradition.
