Théâtre "1926-2026, Noël Pinot - une vide donnée"
A play about the life of Noël Pinot, running from 17 to 25 October 2026 in Louroux-Béconnais.
Whilst everyone knows the name Noël Pinot, do we really know his story?
This play will help you (re)discover him and draw you into the turbulent life of the countryside during that terrible period of the French Revolution. Through this new production, we gain a better understanding of the situations our forebears experienced, in which the widest range of emotions is powerfully expressed. In turn, the dialogues highlight courage, cowardice, loyalty, solidarity, heroism, fear, doubt, suspicion and betrayal, against a backdrop of daily life where poverty only makes matters worse.
At the heart of this story, therefore, is the life of an ordinary priest – Noël Pinot – which takes an extraordinary turn. Consequently, this man’s life and courage were recognised by the Church, and on 31 October 1926, in St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the Pope declared Noël Pinot ‘Blessed’, a title granted exceptionally to those who have demonstrated heroic virtues, even to the point of sacrificing their lives.
It is therefore to mark this 100th anniversary that our association is shining a light once more on the life of this local historical figure.
