Visite architecturale de l’Apostrophe : Comprendre l’Architecture contemporaine et le métier d’architecte

Visite de l'Apostrophe - © CAUE 72

Guided tour of the Apostrophe as part of National Architecture Days; a project combining the refurbishment and extension of the Joël Le Theule Hall and the Maison des Arts, as well as the construction of a media library.

As part of the “National Architecture Days”, the CAUE is offering guided tours of the L’Apostrophe inter-municipal centre in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, designed by the architectural firm Blanchard Marsault Pondevie.

Nominated for the APERÇUS Sarthe 2025 Award, this project involves the extension and refurbishment of two buildings: the Joël Le Theule performance hall and the Maison des Arts et des Enseignements. The scheme has been enhanced with a media library, thereby bringing together cultural facilities within a single space. This has resulted in an architectural approach centred on sharing and pooling reception areas as well as office spaces, in close harmony with the existing buildings. The timber cladding complements the brickwork of the existing structures, creating a unified whole. The project thus presents the public with a curved, largely glazed façade overlooking a forecourt, inviting visitors to enter the premises.
